9/8/07 A Piper Arrow Moves to Brennand Airport - Our flight school's second Piper Arrow, the one I have flown the most, is now "mine" at Brennand Airport! We decided to move it here instead of keep it in Green Bay. It can be used for complex aircraft training, instrument / commercial / CFI training, and rental just for fun or travel. It will be great to have two planes to choose from at Brennand Airport. Eventually our Ercoupe will be ready, so that will make three planes. I flew the Arrow to its new home this morning. I practiced short-field takeoffs and landings at Brennand and found them to be easier than I thought they would be. Later I re-established my expired night currency by doing three night landings in the Arrow. Then my private pilot student and I flew it on a night cross-country to Timmerman Airport in Milwaukee.

9/23/07 Fall XC to Merrill - The fall colors north of here are starting to show well, especially the reds. My student Dave flew his first dual cross-country with me today from Neenah to Merrill, WI and back. It was a nice clear day. While in Merrill we saw a beautiful shiny Ercoupe flying. It turned out to be Syd Cohen from Wausau giving Young Eagles rides. I could only dream of our school's Ercoupe ever looking like THAT!

9/28/07 XC to Southern Illinois - A client of mine learning to fly the Arrow wanted to go on a cross-country to Effingham, IL, which is 305 nautical miles straight-line from Brennand Airport. We flew the six-hour round-trip together with his wife riding along. We saw a couple of huge wind farms.

Hey look! Someone's growing windmills.

9/30/07 Start of the Trip Out East - Kent, Mike, and Dan of The Pilotcast podcast wanted to cover the AOPA Expo in Hartford, CT, so Kent and Mike planned to fly out there. I got to ride along, and the three of us planned to meet up with Dan who lives in Hartford. I flew the Arrow solo to Middleton (C29) yesterday, and today Kent and I flew it to Grayslake, IL (C81) to meet up with Mike. We put the Arrow in Mike's hangar, then loaded Mike's Cherokee 235 up to the brim with our baggage and ourselves, with the two guys in front and me riding in the no-legroom back. We departed late in the evening to head east, stopping in Akron, Ohio for an overnight stay... arriving very late at the hotel, something like 2:00 a.m. eastern time, and luckily we were allowed a late checkout so we could sleep in.
