3/3/03 Winter Break - This week is spring, uh, winter break here at school. I'm staying here for most of it and hope to fly. 3/4/03 Ouch... Need Flying... Must Have... Flying... - Whoa! As of late last month, I'm not even passenger-current anymore! Now that is sad. It's been over 90 days since I've completed the required three landings to maintain currency. Now I can't take my friends flying until I do three landings either solo or with an instructor. I can't believe how so much time slipped away. The good news is that I got a new instructor a couple weeks ago who can fly with me on my odd schedule. We'll be able to get some good work done. My number one goal right now is to regain currency! My next flight will be either a dual cross-country or a dual local practice flight. Whatever it is, it will remind me what flying is like! 3/9/03 Love at First Sight - I have flown Cirrus SR22s before, but today I was lucky enough to fly one of the first few that have left the factory with an Avidyne FlightMax Entegra primary flight display (PFD) installed. I was convinced after less than an hour of flying that the Cirrus Design Company truly is revolutionizing general aviation. Flying this plane was a dream! Take a look at their web site. 3/18/03 Heading for Cincinnati - Tomorrow, two pilot friends and I are going to Cincinnati, Ohio for the annual Women in Aviation conference. It will be our first time attending. The conference runs through Saturday. I haven't been able to devote any time to maintaining this web site lately because I'm so busy, but look for details about the conference when I get back! 3/23/03 A Glimpse of my Potential Future - I attended the Women in Aviation, International conference March 20-22 in Cincinnati. Over 2,000 aviation professionals and students attended. I had never seen so many women in one place at one time! To me the event was informative and fun but also very overwhelming. Aviation is struggling. When will it turn around? Suddenly I feel like I don't know who I am or what I want to do. I suppose everyone has a moment like that in their life. 3/30/03 Day/Night Instrument Cross-Country - I flew a cross- country from Dubuque to Waterloo to Cedar Rapids and back. I did it on an instrument flight plan and flew mostly under the hood. I completed a VOR approach at Waterloo and an ILS approach at Cedar Rapids. This was my first flight in a school airplane since November, and it was with my new instructor. The weather was good and I came back to Dubuque at night.
