8/5/05 Front Page News - I have to take people's word for it, but I'm on the front page of the Neenah - Menasha Independent News this week. I haven't been able to see a copy yet. When three of my relatives from Neenah saw my picture, they decided to come out to the airport for a surprise visit. Two of them went for a trip around the pattern with me. It's always fun to introduce relatives to flying in small planes. I hope the article generates a customer or two.
8/14/05 When Ends Don't Meet - Flight instructing has been going well and I like doing it, but I haven't been able to do enough of it. With astronomical student loan payments and a 43-mile one-way commute at a whopping $2.63 a gallon, I knew I'd have to get a local second part-time job to start making some decent money. The quickest, easiest route was to take an open position at a factory in town where my dad works. I started last week on August 3rd. It's doing repetetive assembly tasks starting at 7:00 in the morning, four days a week. I've never had a job like this and I daydream about planes at least once an hour, wondering how I'll ever get out of this situation... but for now I'm glad it will pay the bills. My phone has been ringing more and more with strangers asking about flight lessons. I flew three times yesterday and will be flying with two new students this week.
