Pioneer Airport Volunteer Training, Champ Flight

I spent six hours at the EAA AirVenture Museum in Oshkosh today for annual Pioneer Airport volunteer training. It was great to see my “Oshkosh family” again! Afterwards, my airline pilot friend Mike flew with me in a plane I thought I’d never see again: an Aeronca Champ that I hadn’t flown since August of 2000. It was grounded for a long time while it got a new engine, interior, and paint job. All I can say now is that it is GORGEOUS! (I really regretted not having a camera!) The flight was fun, too. Ah, taildraggers and sticks, you can’t beat ’em! What a fun little airplane.
